Our area offers so many attractions that everyone can enjoy. This is a short list of some of the most popular activities you can visit during the warm months of summer, all within a short drive from home.

WATER PARKS:

Splash Station Aquatic Center – Wentzville

Splash Station is an aquatic facility that offers endless fun in the sun for the entire family. They have something for everyone from the daring high-dive to the lazy river. 

 

Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center – OFallon

Located in Civic Park in OFallon, Alligator’s Creek is one of the finest outdoor aquatic centers in the area with exciting features for all ages.

Wapelhorst Park Aquatic Facility – St Charles

Lazy River with three stair entries, Leisure Pool with large shaded wet deck lounge, Children’s Pool with multi-level play structure, Plunge Pool with two stair entries and two body flume waterslides, Flagship “Boomerango” raft-ride waterslide

Blanchette Aquatic Facility – St CharlesLap Pool, Leisure Pool with two water slides, Children’s Pool zero beach entry, various spray features, multi-level play structure, Deep Water Pool with stair entry, drop slide and climbing wall.

FESTIVALS:

St. Charles Riverfest

A three day celebration in 2023 includes live music, carnival, food & craft vendors, and fireworks over the river.

Festival of the Little Hills

The largest festival of the year, activities include over 300 craft booths, with some demonstrations by crafts people and artisans. Also includes numerous food & beverages booths along with live music and other entertainment and Kids Corner.

Heritage & Freedom Fest – OFallon July 1-4

Two awesome nights of fireworks, free concerts, carnival rides and so much more.

PARKS:

Verterans Tribute Park

A destination playground for children of all abilities encompasses social/emotional, physical, sensory, cognitive, and communication development. The playground is divided into zones: interactive and motion-activated water play; music play; adventure play with climbing features; inclusive swings; and a hillside slide.

Renaud CenterWhether it’s a humid, blistering summer day or a snowy, blustery winter evening, the Renaud Center offers a perfect climate-controlled environment for all ages and abilities. With a state-of-the-art fitness center, an art gallery, dedicated aerobics room, 10,000-square-foot natatorium with lap lanes and zero-depth entry play area, and full locker rooms and family changing areas, the Renaud Center has it all.

 

ATTRACTIONS:

Spend the day at Eckert’s 

The three locations in Illinois are an almost-all-seasons destination for farm fun. In summer, pick your own peaches and blackberries

Feed a goat at Grant’s Farm

Since 1903, the Busch family has owned and operated this animal farm in Grantwood Village. But the property gets its name from another famous resident, Ulysses S. Grant, who built his Hardscrabble cabin on the site.

 

Look at fossils and replicas at Mastodon State Historic Site

Budding paleontologists will go gaga over the Kimmswick Bone Bed

Watch the dog show at Purina Farms
