Spring is a time when many of us decide to deep clean our home to prepare for the upcoming warmer months. Here are some tips to help you to make the job a little easier:
Work from the top down to avoid getting what you just cleaned dirty again.
Invest in good rubber or vinyl gloves to protect your skin and nails.
Do one room, even one area of one room, at a time to avoid unfinished jobs. Seeing the results of completing an entire room will help to motivate you to do the rest of your home.
Look up: Clean the blades of a ceiling fan by covering them with a
coat of furniture polish. Wipe off the excess and lightly buff.
Look Down: Wipe your baseboards and trim. You’ll be amazed at the difference it makes
Clean your doors (not those doors): You can eliminate soap scum build-up by coating your glass shower doors with a rain-repellent product made for car windshields. These products when applied to glass allow the water and soap to roll off.
Don’t forget about your counter tops: Natural stone countertops, including granite and marble, are porous, so if they’re not sealed, liquids like red wine, juice, or soy sauce can stain them. A countertop sealer repels stains by causing spills to bead instead of getting absorbed. Most countertops are sealed when installed, but the sealant does wear down.
