With the dark days of winter on their way out, we can turn our attention to bright days of spring that are ahead. As part of your preparation for the upcoming season, it is important to make sure that your house is ready as well. Susan Brewer Service First Real Estate has prepared a list of items to help you to ensure that you house is ready for the warm days ahead:
Clean your gutters – Use you hands (be sure to wear gloves) and clean out what you can. Grab a helper and a garden hose to clean out all of the remaining debris and downspouts.
Replace you filters – This is great time to change your furnace filter (which you should do regular basis), but it is also the perfect time to change the water filter in your refrigerator and your range hood filter.
Clean you dryer vent – A clogged dryer vent can cause a fire. Regularly cleaning the lint trap on your dryer and periodically cleaning the dryer vent can help to prevent a possibly traumatic event.
Wash all of your exterior windows – Hiring a professional may be necessary for this one especially for the second story windows. Clean windows help to let in the natural light that makes your house look its best!
Prepare your outside spaces – The best part of the warmer months is living and entertaining outside! Prepare your patio and deck for all of the activity – clean your outdoor furniture, repair any broken or splintered boards on your deck and clean your grill and get it ready for all those new recipes you’ve collected over the winter.
Replace/repair torn or damaged window screens – Many people enjoy opening their windows and airing out their homes during the spring season. Inspect your window screens and repair or replace any that have torn during the winter months. Torn screens allow insects to enter your home.
Service your air conditioning system – Now is the time to have a professional inspect your A/C system and make any repairs NOW before the 100+ degree days of summer
Preparing now for the upcoming warmer months will allow you to spend more time outside enjoying your home this spring rather than maintaining it.
