As a home seller, you want your home to show its best to potential buyers. The better your home looks when buyers visit, the better your chance of receiving offers. These are a few of the suggestions that we make to our clients to help them to get started on the road of the sale of their home:
It All Starts Outside: The exterior of your home is the first thing that buyers see when the arrive for a home showing. It is also what they see when they Brive by your home prior to a showing to determine if they want to make an appointment for a viewing. If the outside of your home leaves a little to be desired, buyers assume that the interior will as well. Take the time to power wash your siding, mowing your lawn, cleaning your windows, trimming your landscaping and repainting your front door (if needed).
Make Your Entryway Inviting: Place a new welcome mat at your front door. Clean your doorknob on your front door and the light fixtures and add a potted plant to give a splash of color. Buyers will congregate at the entry a “take it all in” as they enter.
Take the Time to De-Clutter: Everyday living in your home is much different than living in your home when it is listed for sale. Removing the clutter from your home will make it appear larger and more open. Donate or move to storage any non-essential items in your home.
Nuetral is Best: Keeping your decor neutral makes it easier for buyers to imagine themselves living in your home. Paint is the easiest and least expensive way to quickly freshen up your home’s interior. Neutral tones are best for walls, bedding and window treatments as well.
Minimize Personal Accents: Minimal personal effects throughout your home definitely allows buyers to see themselves living there and is less distracting. Buyers often get distracted with personal photos and moments and they can take their attention away from their reason for being there.
Rearrange Your Furniture: The layout of your furniture may work well for how you use your home, but it is best to arrange it in a symmetrical way the helps each room to show as large as it can.
Don’t Be Afraid to Call a Professional: We are a good resource for staging advice, and many home stagers will stage a home even if it is lived in. Calling for a consultation is always a good place to start.
